Memories of Winnipeg
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14
Manitoba Homecoming 2010 kicked off the New Year by hitting the streets of Winnipeg and taking the first of a series of photographs of iconic locations across our city and province.
We started off our day at Jeanne’s Bakery on Notre Dame Ave and were greeted by Davian and his friendly staff.
We also went to the Paddle Wheel Restaurant at The Bay downtown, Salisbury House on Main Street and Alicia’s Ukrainian Restaurant on Cathedral where we enjoyed the “North End Special”.
We where graciously welcomed by Mary Kelekis at Kelekis Restaurant and had a stroll down memory lane looking at pictures of everyone from Randy ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” Bachman to Winnipeg’s own Sylvia Kuzyk.
We even got our hair nets and ear plugs on to take a tour of the one and only Old Dutch Potato Chip plant ... delicious! (Don’t forget the sour cream and onion dip!)
MHC ended our day at Winnipeg’s answer to the “rat pack”, Rae and Jerry’s with its original red interior and wonderful staff!
It was an excellent day and the most impressive thing was the people that we met and the pride that they all have in their business and in our city!
Thanks to photographer Sam Baardman for taking our first series of pictures. To see them all, visit our Media Gallery.
