KICK OFF TO SUMMER WEEKEND

It's officially summer and we're planning an awesome Kick off to Summer weekend! 

Join us Thursday, July 1st for Canad Day Picnic in the Park at Assiniboine Park for great Canada Day celebrations. Fun starts at 1:00 pm and will feature fun family activities including entertainment at the Lyric Stage. There will children's entertainment, face painting and free admission to the Zoo courtesy of Mayor Sam Katz.  The evening will end with fireworks set to music by Manitoba artists including Kenny Shields and Streetheart. On Friday, July 2nd, get ready to cheer on our Blue and Gold at the 80th Anniversary Home Opener at the Canad Inns Stadium.  Kick off starts at 7:00 pm.  www.bluebombers.com

Saturday, July 3rd will be a day to remember!  It's the Manitoba Homecoming 2010 Concert for Human Rights that will take place on  Scotiabank Stage at The Forks starting at 2:00 pm. Admission is free with performances by:

•Royal Winnipeg Ballet
•Chic Gamine
•Eagle & Hawk
•Fred Penner
•Sierra Noble
•Inward Eye
•Keith & Renee

The summer concert will include a visit by Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh between 5:00 and 6:00 pm.  Following the Queen’s visit, the celebration will continue with a bilingual concert which will be filmed by Rivard Productions and aired on TFO later this year.

Ten thousand concert attendees will receive complimentary human rights star pins as a reminder to take action to promote human rights in the years leading up to the opening of the museum and beyond.
